The article starts by focusing on the versatility of the Rotiiva. This tire is unique in its ability to deliver on-road comfort, off-road traction, and winter performance.
The tires were tested on a Mitsubishi L200, a vehicle weighing nearly one ton. The article explains the tendency of heavier vehicles to "drift" and lose traction when cornering. The grip of the Rotiiva definitively cut down on the amount of drift that the truck encountered, while also delivering superior comfort and minimal road noise.
The article compares the road noise of the Rotiiva to a passenger car tire, which is a remarkable achievement for an all-terrain and winter rated tire.
The Rotiiva's "stone ejector" technology was also tested and approved by the reviewer. The reviewer stated that "the tire's traction on dry terrain is outstanding and any small stones picked up by the tread are immediately thrown off".
Stone ejectors on the bottoms of grooves minimize the penetration of sharp rocks into the tire. The Stone Ejectors further increase the operating life of the tire by preventing tire body damage, especially when driving on uneven surfaces.

Another feature the article highlights is the unique "cooling fins" that deal with the common problem of overheating which can severely damage tires. These fins essentially drive air through the tread at high speeds, cooling down the tread and protecting the tire. The Cooling ribs on the shoulder area reduce heat generation inside the tire. Lower heat generation means slower wear, more comfortable driving, and more mileage.
Overall, the tire was very well received by the German Automotive magazine. The article states that the "modern, top of the range tire is worth its high price". The reviewer gives the tire two thumbs up, stating that it is clearly a great investment for someone looking for a tire that does everything well.
This one can bring me miles. I would like to ask more about this kind of tire to my fleet management software team. I'll get back and make a review afterwards.
ReplyDeleteWheel alignment is always important (new or old) The tires last longer when they roll down the road compared to skid down the road (misaligned wheel skids like an eraser - the rubber comes off on the pavement wearing off the tread prematurely.) The car handles better, corners better, drives like it is on rails. Just stop hitting curbs and potholes and the alignment will keep for a longer period of time. i like car rims and now i want to purchase new shape of a rim for my car!

Nice post. I have been reading a ton of tire reviews lately. I am looking to buy Nokian tires for my boyfriends truck for his birthday. His tires are so bald, it scares me. I love that these tires overall performance is outstanding, that is very impressive. I should get these tires for my car as well. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI have 2008 gmc Sierra 2500HD and have just put 83000kms on a set of 265/70/17 load range E tires. I run them year round and have been very pleased with their performance. I could probably get another 10000km on them but it's October and will change them out with another set of the same. I am not a fan of summer / winter wheel change outs and this tire I ran year round with confidence as it had a good treadwear and winter rating traction with the Mountian snowflake- doesn't get much better unless there studded and I don't feel in Alberta it's required. I mostly travel highway and the tires have performed well in all winter conditions when I also have "driven to conditions" and not had miracle expectations. Bottom line I would recommend trying these tires, the only small concern I had was I needed to balance them with every 10-14k tire rotation due to very minor imbalance as they wore out, after about 50000km they didn't need to be balanced again. Travelling highway I like a smooth ride so I may been a bit particular. Please note I did very little towing and just hauled average box payload now and again. Heavy summer towing may cause much heavier wear.
